Chapter 15

Conflict, War, and Terrorism

Chapter 10

Gender Inequalities
I picked this chapter because things I’ve read in here are things that I’ve noticed and feel like is an issue that should be brought up and fixed.

Article: Gender Inequality and the Division of Household Labor in the United States and Sweden: A Socialist-Feminist Approach

I picked this article because with their hypothesis they may have found why gender inequalities in the home are maintained despite progressive legislations. Making that first step is a good thing because it will eventually help out and solve the problem

This youtube video shows that inequality within gender is an issue throughout the world we live in, through school all the way to getting a job later in life.

This website gives 10 GOOD examples of gender inequality throughout the world against women.

This website informs up what gender equality is, I decided to add this one because it gives good facts about inequality and the majority of women are poor because of it.

Chapter 5

Family Problems
I selected chapter five because it’s about family problems and is something that should always be addressed and never shoved to the back for another day.

Article: Women and Male Partner Dating Violence in Nigeria

I picked this article because women violence is a big issue all over the world and is something that everyone should be aware of. It should never be put aside and always addressed, because it will never get better if you don’t stand up for yourself. It will only hurt you more. Also, the more educated people are the most likely they will come forward and talk to someone that can help them.

This youtube video discusses teen pregnancy in America. It is an issue that is important because you have to provide for more than one person at such a young age and also you have to immediately grow up and leave your own childhood behind to help raise a child.

About myself

“As a general rule...people ask for advice only in order not to follow it; or if they do follow it, in order to have someone to blame for giving it.”
―Alexandre Dumas

My name is Sara Pruett, from the Eastern Washington area. My interest in sociology would have to do with the fact that I, in the future, want to work at a prison. This class has helped me so far understand mostly what I would be seeing on a day to day basis and how I could relate to the inmates life style, and also what I should expect with the community and surroundings I will be putting myself in which such job title.

For my picture I chose to do the book we’re reading in our class, because has been really helpful opening my eyes to things I did not think were as important, before I started this class. It also has some very good information that would help me if I chose to go into a DOC job after school.
I chose this quote for my blog because for one it is a very true quote and one I really like. It helps us think about the power of sociology and helps us understand how our world and our own lives work.
